1. Carbonium Ion (Carbocation)

Carbonium Ion :- Carbonium ion also know as carbocation can be defined as The species in which , positive charge is carried by the carbon atom with six electrons in its valence shell formed by heterolytic fission are known as Carbonium Ion or Carbocation .


Stability :- The order of stability among the simple alkyl carbocations is as follows :
                      3°>2°>1°
i.e. tertiary alkyk Carbocation is most stable followed by secondary and primary alkyl carbocations.

Structure :- In Carbocation , the carbon atom with positive charge is sp² hybridised . The three sp² hybrid orbitals are used in the formation of σ bond with three atoms or groups . The third unused p-orbital remains vacant .
